It’s not too early to start shopping for fall – the Nordstrom Anniversary sale is on after all. I got to write up a really cool web piece for my internship featuring celebrity stylists Louise Roe and Daniel Musto! They talked their favorite ’60s pieces inspired by the new Disney Channel Movie “Teen Beach Movie.” Check it out!
Recent sweltering, sunny days at the beach with my gal pals has me seeing palm trees. I’m not hallucinating – there are no palm trees in Chicago – but this season’s striking tropical prints are on my mind. They’re bright, summery, and pack quite a punch. Sun, sand and surf are a cheap flight away, but I’d rather spend my money on these gems.

Raf Simons delivered again for Christian Dior yesterday in Paris. The Fall 2013 couture line he sent down the runway was dynamic and honored the tradition of couture: the client. Simons did away with the overtly dramatic looks we often see in haute couture collections and instead put forth a stunning modern wardrobe designed with the customer in mind. That’s not to say the collection lacked drama – international influences were everywhere: bold tribal colors, spacey Japanese fabrics, Masai-like neck pieces, and nods to American sportswear. Always the rebel, Raf Simons produced a remarkably normal couture collection that dazzled with sexy cuts, sheers panels, and eye-catching colors.
Regrettably, I don’t have tickets to Pitchfork, Bonnaroo, or Lollapalooza. But there’s no excuse not to dress like a festival junkie all summer long. Easy, breezy dresses are a staple at summer music festivals and this year is no exception. Patterns are prime and grungy tie-dye and Asian-inspired bohemian prints are just about everywhere. These effortlessly cool dresses are perfect to throw on on any given summer day. Accessorize with an arm cuff or head wrap; coveted Lolla wristband optional.
